at the end of today's witchtower, the elder taking it said that next weeks meeting was about appreciating and showing respect for the meetings, and that a letter with "guidelines" - no don't laugh - from the society about this would be read out.. is this why this week was all about being obedient drones and not questioning anything (except for the question "what does the wtbts currently teach on this for me to parrot robotically while maintaining a rictus smile of fake joy?").
anybody see this letter yet?.

Having served as an elder in all service committee functions, I can't recall HOW MANY TIMES issues and judicial cases came up where there was no clear "Biblical" answer, and if the elder handbook didn't address it, it was one of many grey areas. The excuse of the circuit and district overseers, and the service desk at Bethel was "the principle of the matter is". That ruled my life for years, and when blatant hypocrisy in judicial meetings skewed rulings, I knew I'd had my fill of lies and coverups. The light got brighter for me.
3W - I admire your work to support your beliefs. Don't forget to be true to yourself and ask the tough questions that can only be answered by what YOU know to be right and wrong in YOUR heart. You appear to have a good moral compass. Not much can compare with the empty feeling of lost years serving what I thought was truth.
It is always easy to fall back on "the light getting brighter", and being an imperfect organization. If that is the case, why jump on every imperfection of every other religion and even the R & F?
When I recall the persuasions to follow principle only, even if it meant doing things that were correct and right in the moralest of eyes, I was told not to do so and stumble anyone; I even gave that talk at a convention.
Why don't the GB have respect for the sheep they shepherd to follow the same principled advice?
It appears to my simplistic logic that this principle is the foundation of this thread and rises above all of the excuses and dancing around the topic.

interestingly enough, the homepage of www.watchtower.org has the gall post a link ripping the trinity because, if true, "it should be clearly and consistently presented in the bible.
guess they don't like anyone infringing on their rights to create.

does anyone know whether it is proper to keep a congregation file on a person if he was just accused of apostasy from family member.. if they keep that on file, does it follow you anytime you move to a new congregation?.
It was my experience that any inkling of apostasy would be related to the new congregation as they would view you as a threat to the congregation; I heartily agree with the previous post that most bodies sending a letter to the new congregation will send, in addition to necessary facts, their own personal slant.
i threw everything away except the bible (which i now know is crap), the songbook and reasoning from the scriptures ( to use against them... primarily the conversation stopper part).
so many posters seem be able to access jw info easily and quote it... i wonder if i should have kept everything.
at the time, it was a way to start over and commit to never going back.
I kept the elder handbook since no one asked for it back; nothing else.
a warm and friendly hello to all !!.
i've been lurking and learning for a few months.
former elder who drifted away due to congregation hyprocrisy and politics.. went through many of the feelings of inadequacy and/or lack of confidence for a while but the longer i was away the stronger i became.. i'll tell more about myself later but right now i want to thank all of your for sharing your thoughts and comments.. it's truly amazing how bright the light can get when you really learn the truth and get out of the "organization".
